'CATLOW', 1971

   THE BALLAD OF ORVILLE MILLER

He came from the east, this man of the West,
A bounty hunter and killer, acknowledged the best;
But soon he would face the ultimate test -
The man called Orville Miller.
A tall, dark man who was fast and lean,
His eyes were flashing, his manner mean;
He was the evillest man you ever have seen -
The man called Orville Miller.
Throughout his life Jed Catlow he hated;
For a chance to kill him he waited, and waited.
One to live, one to die in a showdown was fated
For the man called Orville Miller.
Armed and deadly with a sawn-off shotgun
In Hermosillo Jail bullets flew in the sun.
He lay dead in the dust when the shooting was done -
The man called Orville Miller.
