untitled
Saavik joins me
And we stand together
High on a hill
As the alien ship
Containing my son
And the colleagues who love him
Rises in a majestic sweep
Into the orange Vulcan sky.
I have done all I can
For you, Spock.
Your brilliant Vulcan intellect
Is fully restored
But you are totally devoid
Of your Human emotions.
You go seeking;
But you know not what you seek.
I can only hope,
My very special Vulcan son,
As you go in search of
Your Human self
That the constant contact
With your emotional Human friends
Will burst the dam
That is welling high within you.
The sky blurs before my eyes
And unbidden tears are shed
As the ship disappears.
I know not if, or when,
I will see you again.
I only know
That you are where you must be
As you go to meet your Destiny.
May the Universe
Protect you.
My maternal bond
Dwells within you;
Parted from me,
But never parted.
Farewell, my beloved son.
Live long, and prosper.
