                        MOUNT SELEYA

They brought Spock on a stretcher that red Vulcan morn -
He had died to save them, but his body reborn
Lay on the altar on Mount Seleya.
He had sacrificed for them - they who had sacrificed for him,
Their eyes anxious, their expressions grim
Stood with him on Mount Seleya.
Sarek, Spock's father, requested refusion;
Was warned that failure would result in delusion
For all who hoped on Mount Seleya.
McCoy, who held Spock's katra in his brain,
Knowing he could not bear to lose his friend again
Lay beside him on Mount Seleya.
Priestess T'Lar instituted the meld;
From McCoy's mind Spock's essence she lifted and held
Atop the Steps of Mount Seleya.
The ceremony over, McCoy said "I'm all right, Jim."
But what about Spock? Kirk's eyes returned to him
Above the Steps of Mount Seleya.
The Vulcan walked past, head shrouded in hood,
Then he slowed and stopped and pensively stood
'Neath the Steps of Mount Seleya.
Slowly he turned and uncovered his head,
But in Spock's eyes no recognition Kirk read
From the meld on Mount Seleya.
Then "Jim - your name - is Jim" came Spock's deep, familiar voice
And all his friends clustered round him to rejoice
'Neath the Steps of Mount Seleya.
