THE SOUL OF A SILVER STARSHIP
Folk think that a silver starship
Doesn't have a soul
But I do, and this silver starship
Had in life only one goal.
I lived to serve my Captain
And all his gallant crew
We fought and won many a fight
And strength from his courage I drew.
Scotty salved and repaired all my wounds
And nursed me with pride and skill;
I don't know how he did it
And now I never will.
My monitors watched mutely
As Spock lay in pain and dying
And shared the agony of a loved one lost
As Jim, left alone, sat crying.
Now Jim has activated my destruction
And will walk my decks nevermore;
I feel the beat of jackbooted feet
As onto the Bridge Klingons pour.
The explosions rip my saucer apart
As I dip into a flaming dive,
Destroying the Klingons with me -
They'll never take me alive.
Farewell, beloved Captain,
I know I've served you well.
Like Spock, I die so you may live
As I blaze and plunge into Hell.
I feel my soul is soaring
And is no longer bound -
I'm returning to he who loves me
As home at last I've found.
My soul is joined to his now,
To the one that I adore;
The soul of this silver starship
Belongs to Jim Kirk evermore.
